Working Pattern: Permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Our finance department are looking for a Finance Manager who will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day finance processes for the organisation and management of the finance team. In addition, The Finance Manager will support the Financial Controller through the delivery of the monthly accounts and reporting packs, as well as supporting the budget and forecast processes, with an exposure to board, senior management, department heads and group directors. The role is based at our 'Mayor's Quay' head office in Wigan and will be working on a hybrid working basis.


Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, and monthly report packs for Group to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow for the group companies.

  • Providing insight and analysis to the overhead support functions through detailed P&L reviews to improve cost ownership and control on a monthly basis.

  • Reviewing all month end reports produced by the finance team including sales, purchases, balance sheet reconciliations and payroll analysis, ensuring accurate and in line with expectation.

  • Managing financial risks, business partnering with all sites to ensure financial controls are in place.

  • To assist in the preparation of the annual budget and regular re-forecasts to Group including the reporting, analysis, and detailed budget commentary.

  • Ensure robust financial control procedures, systems and processes are in place and reviewed regularly for updates.

  • Ensuring the accounting software in use is up to date and accurate and that it is being used as efficiently and effectively as possible.

  • Working with the Payroll team to correctly account for the monthly payroll and monthly recharges.

  • Identify development and training needs of direct reports including career mapping and objective setting.

  • Co-ordinating and overseeing the year end statutory audit and ad-hoc internal audits and assisting with tax queries.

  • Deputising for the Financial Controller as required, in operational meetings, management meetings, directors’ visits, board meetings.

  • Responsible for updates to the Group Finance Manual and Group Tax Manual as required by the Group Financial Controller.


What we are looking for

  • A good standard of general education + professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a similar role, with experience of managing and developing a finance team within a fast-paced environment working to tight deadlines.

  • Experience of producing annual budgets and monthly forecasts.

  • Experience improving efficiencies and process improvement.

  • Experience of data manipulation using Power BI, Power Query, Excel.

  • Computer literate with ability to operate Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage conflict and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.

  • A proven capability to interrogate, analyse and manage complex data streams for multiple internal/external sources.
