Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum


We have an opportunity available for a temporary Training Content Designer to join our Training Academy based in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan on an initial 12-month fixed term contract basis.

You will be responsible for the design & development of blended and engaging new starter, refresher and upskill training courses/modules for Lowri Beck Trainees as required, and in line with business requirements. This will include the creation of a range of learning materials and templates for our Dual Fuel and Electric Vehicle Operatives (Gas and Power, including three phase) as well any other required training such as induction and general health & safety training modules.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday between 08:00 – 17:00. The salary for the role will be up to £30,000 per annum dependent on the successful candidate’s previous experience & qualification.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design & development of engaging training modules, and the creation of all related documents such as lesson plans, schemes of work, trainer notes, training aids, assessments etc. across a range of classroom and practical training.

  • Creation of template documents such as assessments and workbooks.

  • Ascertaining the most cost-effective and appropriate training method (e.g. CBT, classroom) & making recommendations on multi-media software that can be used going forward to enhance our multi-media learning solution offerings.

  • Development of training material that delivers clearly set learning objectives in a manner that supports multiple learning styles.

  • Creation of e-Learning & video packages that can be shared with our in-field operatives through initial or ongoing training interventions.

  • Support any learning systems implementation or system improvements within the academy team.

  • Responsible for working to a version control process to ensure only the most up to date learning interventions are accessible.

  • Working with the training academy management team, Technical and Compliance teams to ensure the training developed aligns to technical & legislative requirements.

  • Supporting the Training Academy Manager in implementing the training academy vision and strategy and related SLA’s/KPI’s. Responsible for working towards meeting the related SLA’s and KPI’s. There will be a requirement to work on projects designed to improve the training academy offering, as well as supporting in the creation of streamlined and effective training academy processes.

  • All other duties as reasonably requested by the Training Academy Manager.


What we are looking for

  • A qualification at level 3 or above in either multi-media design, learning and development or digital design (or equivalent experience/in-house development).

  • Demonstrate a high level of English skills, with minimum GCSE in English at B grate or above (or equivalent).

  • Experience of creating blended learning solutions across a variety of mediums, that must include classroom/practical settings, with a broad knowledge & understanding of all potential learning interventions that can be created.

  • Experience of using a range of software to create e-Learnings and videos.

  • A good understanding of an operational business/industry, although previous experience working within the utility metering industry (or similar type of operational industry) would be desirable.

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication & organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and think creatively and propose ‘out of the box’ learning solutions that fit in order to meet tight deadlines.
