Tonik Switches on to Lowri Beck and Calvin Capital Offering

Tonik Energy, one of Britain’s most innovative energy suppliers, has reached agreement with Lowri Beck and Calvin Capital covering the procurement and installation of its entire SMETS2 smart meter programme.

The contract is the second signed by Lowri Beck and Calvin Capital under a new joint offering that provides UK energy suppliers with a complete end-to-end SMETS2 solution, including smart meter funding, installation and ongoing maintenance services.

“We are very excited to be working with such an innovative, award-winning and fast-growing energy supplier as Tonik, building on their already strong relationship with Calvin Capital” said John Parr, Managing Director of Lowri Beck. “Tonik’s focus on pairing renewable energy with next generation technology to put their members in control of how they control their own energy use, presents a compelling proposition to the marketplace and we are delighted to be partnering with them to bring the benefits of smart metering to their customers.”

Simon Perkins, Chief Operations Officer at Tonik says, “We’re really pleased to be working with Calvin Capital and Lowri Beck to deliver our rollout of the next generation smart meters, SMETS2. Smart meters not only help our members to make better sense of their energy use so they can lower their energy bills; but they are also critical to building the UK’s smart energy grid of the future. Both Calvin Capital and Lowri Beck have unparalleled success in metering services and deployments, so we are confident that they are the right partners for us.”

Lowri Beck, based in Wigan, is one of the leading metering services businesses providing energy suppliers with national meter installation, meter reading, data collection and contact centre services.

The company was acquired by Calvin Capital in April this year to create an end-to-end market offering comprising the installation, servicing, managing and funding of domestic metering assets. The alliance is also focused on energy infrastructure growth areas, such as battery storage and EV charging.

Calvin Capital is based in Manchester and is one of the UK’s leading owners and financiers of domestic gas and electricity meters and has been successfully providing support for energy suppliers’ metering deployments since 2002. Calvin Capital is owned by funds managed by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, a global investments firm which manages over $195bn of assets across multiple sectors.

Tonik Energy is an innovative UK independent energy supplier set up in 2015, with a focus on providing its customers with 100% renewable electricity and sustainably sourced gas whilst offering exceptional customer service.
