Here in the Calisen Group, we take sustainability very seriously. For us sustainability means trying to do business without negatively impacting the environment, community, or society as a whole. In fact, at the heart of our business is our purpose: 'to accelerate the development of a cleaner, more efficient energy segment’. The pure nature of what we do in meter management and electric vehicle charging provision contributes very well to this. Sustainability is a great opportunity for us and considerations on sustainability issues will become a key factor in our commercial decision making.
The UK Government aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 78% from the 1990s level by 2035. Climate change issues are becoming topics of our everyday life: How we find ways to provide cheaper, more accessible renewable energy to all, how we manage waste better and how we can stop our planet from getting hotter.
To ensure we play an active part in driving sustainability, we have established a Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC). The members of the committee are from across the business. We set up three workstreams to help drive our sustainability efforts that report into the SSC monthly. Simon Rogers, Compliance Director at Lowri Beck, leads the environmental change workstream, Phil McLelland, Group Finance Director, heads the calculations and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions and Julie Armstrong, the Group Chief People Officer, leads the communications and engagement workstream.
In the coming months, you will be hearing more from us on sustainability, hear more from the SSC members and, significantly, how you can get involved. In the meantime, if you have any questions or ideas on this topic, then please email us at GetInTouch@calisen.com. We are keen to hear from you!
