How is Lowri Beck keeping customers safe during meter reading visits?

Lowri Beck are committed to keeping customers and staff safe throughout the COVID-19 outbreak and are committed to ensuring that we take all necessary action as a COVID-19 Secure Employer.

Despite the current restrictions it is important that we continue to take energy and water meter readings to ensure that distribution systems can continue to supply households and businesses with their energy and water needs. During the visit we also undertake important basic safety checks that help to keep you safe.

When one of our data collectors visits your property they have been trained to follow a strict doorstep protocol to find out if:

• You or anyone in your household has been diagnosed with COVID-19
• You or anyone in your household has been advised to self-isolate
• Anyone in your household is at higher risk and shielding – i.e. is over 70 or suffering from health concerns like diabetes, etc.

If you answer ‘yes’ to any of these screening questions we will give you the option of taking a meter reading yourself or we will happily agree to visit on another occasion.

If you do not have a health concern you can still decide to provide your own reading or re-arrange the visit for another occasion, but we would prefer to complete the visit and take our own readings and complete our safety checks.

All of our Data Collectors have received training on COVID-19 controls and protective measures in line with Government guidance on working in other people’s homes. So, if one of our team does visit your house or business you can be sure that they are taking the right additional precautions. These include:

• Social Distancing: this is a key control and our team member will ask to maintain a separation distance of at least two metres throughout the visit. Wherever possible they will ensure that they are not working in the same room as you.
• Hand Washing: all of our Data Collectors are required to wash their hands regularly over the course of the day and/or use effective hand sanitizers which they carry with them at all times.
• Cleaning Down: all of our Data Collectors are provided with Sanitizer wipes and are required to wipe down all surfaces and equipment that they have been in contact with.
• Protective Equipment: all of our Data Collectors are provided with disposable gloves and a protective face covering that will be worn as necessary through the course of the visit.

All of our Data Collectors are working hard to protect you and your families and our business partners by following a clear safety protocol based on the latest Government guidelines. All that we ask is that you follow their advice during their visit and keep safe.
